It was Saturday and everyone was busy. Mum was cooking, and Dad was folding the laundry. Kiko was playing with his blocks.

"When are we going to the park?" he asked. "When the jobs are done," said Mum.

Kiko had an idea. "If I help, the jobs will be done faster!"

He jumped up. "What can I do?"

Dad showed him how to roll socks into little balls. Mum gave him the plates to put on the table, one for each of them.

Kiko even watered the plants, and they looked very happy about it.

The jobs were done in no time. "We are a team," said Dad.

Off they went to the park, all three together, with lots of time left over to play.

What Kiko learned

A family is a team. When everyone helps, the jobs get done faster and there is more time to have fun together.

Talk about it

  1. Why couldn't the family go to the park yet?
  2. Which jobs did Kiko do?
  3. What job could you do at home?

Try it this week

Do one helping job at home every day, and colour a star.
