At dinner, there was something new on Kiko's plate: little green trees. "I don't like it," said Kiko.
"Have you tried it?" asked Dad. "No," said Kiko. "Then how do you know?" said Dad.
Dad told him a secret. "Your tongue needs to taste a new food lots of times before it starts to like it.
Just one tiny bite. You can be a food explorer."
Kiko took the smallest bite in the whole world. Crunch. It was... not bad. A bit like grass, but nicer.
"What does it taste like?" asked Mum. "Like a tree that a giant would eat," said Kiko, and everyone laughed.
Kiko ate three more little trees, roaring like a giant. Next week he tried carrots, and the week after, peas.
Some he liked, and some he didn't like yet. But he always tried one explorer bite.
